Course Information<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Bloody Easy Lite eLearning program consists of 2 modules \u2013 Indications for Blood Transfusion and Transfusion Reactions. The content is based upon the Bloody Easy 5.1 handbook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indications for Transfusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Module 1 Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Define a “group and screen”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Name the type of crossmatch required when an antibody screen is positive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. List the indications for transfusion of red blood cells (RBC), platelets (PLT), plasma, prothrombin complex concentrates and fibrinogen replacement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Transfusion Reactions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Module 2 Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Discuss informed consent for transfusion with patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Recognize the signs and symptoms of an adverse reaction to blood and blood components.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Summarize measures for the management of transfusion reactions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Each module contains assessment questions which are to be completed upon review of the content. The passing grade for the assessment is 80% and the assessment can be retaken if the user does not achieve 80%.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The program is available in 2 different formats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. On the ORBCoN Learning Management System (LMS)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. In SCORM compliant files<\/a> that can be uploaded to a facility\u2019s LMS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        How often should facilities complete the Bloody Easy Lite eLearning courses?<\/summary>\n

        It is up to each facility how often they require the physicians to complete the eLearning program, however most sites that currently use the eLearning course have a requirement of completing the modules every 2 years.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

        Which physicians should complete the Bloody Easy Lite program?<\/summary>\n

        Any physician that orders blood and blood products should complete the eLearning program however some sites require all physicians to complete the modules.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

        Will I receive a certificate after successful completion of each module?<\/summary>\n

        Yes, after successful completion of each module (reviewing content and achieving 80% on the assessment questions) you will be able to view\/download a certificate of completion.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

        How do I access the Bloody Easy Lite course? <\/summary>\n

        As stated above, there are 2 different options to complete the modules; your facility may be currently using the ORBCoN LMS<\/a> or may have the BE Lite modules on your facility specific LMS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Please check with your facility to see if you have access to either the ORBCoN or your site specific LMS. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
